Astric Medical Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions.

Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Emissions calculations were completed using the United Nations Climate Change Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator.

Baseline Emissions calculations were completed using the United Nations Climate Change Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator.

There are no Scope 1 or 2 emissions for Astric Medical Ltd because there are no dedicated office or warehouse premises, it is a family run business operating from the family home. Therefore, the calculations have included emissions based on a 100% ‘working from home’ basis under Scope 3.

Our Carbon footprint report is included in Appendix 1.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to work towards achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that we will be carbon neutral by 2040.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next 10 years to 3 tCO2e by 2035 based on existing trading volumes. This is a reduction of 47.4% from baseline.

Completed carbon reduction initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2022 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 1.86 tCO2e, a 29.4% reduction against the 2022 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.

• Removing the supply of batteries from our end consumer product
• Review of our consumer packaging to remove plastic

Future carbon reduction initiatives

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

• Investigate moving all or some of our manufacturing closer to the UK
• Reviewing our supplier base and investigate moving all or some of our business to suppliers that have a lower carbon footprint
• Move to more recycled materials and/or further reduce the use of non-recyclable materials
• Enrol in a recognised programme to become carbon neutral
